- The degree program provides ad hoc educational background for the systemic analysis of the natural environment aimed at the protection and management of natural resources; students also acquire methodologies of investigation suitable for applying basic and applied scientific research in the field of nature.
- The two choices “Terrestrial Environment” and “Marine Environment” provide in-depth knowledge of biodiversity and issues of conservation and management, in relation to the two environments
Subjects basically belong to three areas:
- Ecological-conservation area: providing methodologies for the quantitative study of ecology and addresses issues of biodiversity conservation in terrestrial and aquatic environments
- Life sciences area: focusing on botanical and zoological disciplines, with regard to morpho-functional aspects
- Physics-Earth Sciences Area: centered on the acquisition of practical and lab study methodologies
Students participate in competition examination. Admission requirements can be found in the admission announcement (May/June).
After the publication of the final ranking, admitted students can enroll by paying the first fee instalment.

LM60 Natural Sciences
Course description
The Master’s degree program is the optimal progress of the three-year program in the class of “Science and Technology for the Environment and Nature”, completing the naturalistic training. It provides students with:
- Thorough cultural background in the systemic analysis of the natural environment, in all its biotic and abiotic components, aimed at the monitoring, conservation, management and use of natural resources;
- Ad hoc mastery of the scientific method of investigation and of the knowledge necessary to start basic and applied scientific research in the naturalistic field.
Bachelor’s degree candidates in the degree class in Science and Technology for the Environment and Nature or in other classes, provided they meet specific curricular requirements. The latter, along with further information on admission are reported in the Course Regulations.
Providing scientific and professional skills for the protection, management, evaluation, recovery and use of biodiversity and natural resources, both in terrestrial and aquatic environment. One of the objectives of the course is to train a professional figure with knowledge of the natural environments of Calabria.
Naturalist experienced in biodiversity monitoring;
Developer of assessments and management plans on environmental impact;
Consultant in companies working in the field of biodiversity management;
Researcher in the naturalistic field;
Disseminator and naturalistic animator;
Operators at environmental analysis laboratories and ARPA
Fees, contributions and exemptions
Costs calculated based on family income (ISEE-University) and including:
- fee for the equal access to university studies (from 130€ to 160€);
- annual amount (from 0 (if ISEE-University <= € 22,000) to € 2,000);
Flat tax = €1,000 for international students (UE and non UE)
With a family income (ISEE-University < € 26,000) students are entitled to receive:
- Scholarship consisting of total exemption from taxes, cash share, canteen and accommodation service (for off-site students)
- Grants for international mobility
- Reduced rates for the use of sports facilities and cultural services
- Benefits for students completing their degrees within regulation time
Exclusively on grounds of merit, students can obtain:
