Mechanical Engineering

  • In the first year, common topics of mechanical engineering are explored.
  • In the second year, depending on the curriculum students choose, further studies are provided in the following disciplines:
  • Mechanical design: characterization, selection and processing of innovative materials and products, and vehicles design
  • Robotics: mechatronics and robotics, innovative manufacturing methods
  • Advanced industrial engineering: advanced industrial methodologies and tools
  • Kinematic and dynamic behavior of mechanical systems (e.g. structures, vehicles, and robots)
  • Properties, applications and characterizations of metallic, ceramic, polymeric and composite materials
  • Design of complex industrial products using CAD and FEM systems
  • Industrial Processing systems and automation techniques
  • Methodologies for quality and maintenance in industrial plants

Students participate in competition examination. Admission requirements can be found in the admission announcement (May/June).

After the publication of the final ranking, admitted students can enroll by paying the first fee instalment.

Course description

Training is carried out mainly through cycles of lectures, exercises and laboratories. In addition, interdisciplinary projects, internships or apprenticeships in public or private institutions, affiliated companies, professional rolls and training periods abroad are organized. The degree course includes three curricula: mechanical design, robotics and advanced industrial engineering. The lectures of the advanced industrial engineering in the second year are delivered in English and students are allowed to spend a semester abroad to carry out an internship and prepare their dissertation. The disciplines taught in the first year are common to all curricula.

Admission to the degree course is open to undergraduates from any Italian university or to undergraduates with an equivalent foreign qualification, provided that they meet the curricular requirements and sit for an entry test to assess their personal knowledge (further details are indicated in the course regulations and in the call).

 

The degree program trains highly qualified professionals that will work in managerial tasks in different work environments in order to establish and coordinate the design, organization and management of production phases, in the perspective to develop innovative products and processes.

Fees, contributions and exemptions

Costs calculated based on family income (ISEE-University) and including:

  • fee for the equal access to university studies (from 130€ to 160€);
  • annual amount (from 0 (if ISEE-University <= € 22,000) to € 2,000);

Flat tax = €1,000 for international students (UE and non UE)

With a family income (ISEE-University < € 26,000) students are entitled to receive:

  • Scholarship consisting of total exemption from taxes, cash share, canteen and accommodation service (for off-site students)
  • Grants for international mobility
  • Reduced rates for the use of sports facilities and cultural services d) Benefits for students completing their degrees within regulation time
