Humanities and Cultural Heritage

The Degree Course offers:

  • instruments and methodologies for the interpretation of the literary tradition (Greek, Latin, and Italian) and the archaeological, historical and artistic tradition
  • workshops of Italian linguistics, Italian literature, and archaeology

  • a lively environment that encourages students’ cultural interests, also thanks to seminars

Students participate in a call for application. Admission requirements are listed in the call for application:

  • early (March/May): recommended to secure a place; high school seniors may also participate, students are admitted through a selective test TOLC
  • standard (July/August)
  • postponed (September/October), if there are still places available

Course description

The degree program is divided into two courses of study: one oriented to antiquity and one oriented to modernity. The degree in Humanities with a focus on antiquity, provides a classical curriculum focusing on philology, literature and languages of antiquity, while the degree in Cultural Heritage offers a curriculum focusing on the study of archaeology. The degree in Humanities with a focus on modernity offers a modern curriculum including philological, literary and linguistic studies of modernity, while the degree in Cultural Heritage provides a historical-artistic curriculum that focuses on the study of history of art.

Students with a secondary school diploma (5-year course) and students with another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable. Ideal candidates are students with an interest in humanities, with a particular inclination towards literature, history of art and archeology.

 

Providing students with a solid basic education in philological, literary, linguistic, historical-artistic and archaeological studies, from ancient to contemporary times; offering fundamental theoretical instruments to understand society and the cultural factors that have an impact on its evolution.

 

Graduates will find employment opportunities in: libraries, archives, museums, superintend agencies and publishing houses; in the field of conservation and promotion of cultural heritage; in the organization of conventions, fairs, and exhibitions; in all sectors that provide cultural services, where a humanistic educational background is necessary.

 

Fees, contributions and exemptions

Costs calculated based on family income (ISEE-University) and including:

  • fee for the equal access to university studies (from 130€ to 160€);
  • annual amount (from 0 (if ISEE-University <= € 22,000) to € 2,000);

Flat tax = €1,000 for international students (UE and non UE)

With a family income (ISEE-University < € 26,000) students are entitled to receive:

  • Scholarship consisting of total exemption from taxes, cash share, canteen and accommodation service (for off-site students)
  • Grants for international mobility
  • Reduced rates for the use of sports facilities and cultural services
  • Benefits for students completing their degrees within regulation time

Exclusively on grounds of merit, students can obtain:

  • International mobility grants (Erasmus)
  • Free accommodation and canteen services published in the call DUnicAL career program for student-athletes.
